The Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) will stop at the Golden Gates Casino in Blackhawk, Colorado this weekend. This is the first time that the MSPT has come to the Golden Gates Casino and Tony Niehaus, the poker room manager at Golden Gates is expecting a good turnout.
Last week, the MSPT was at the Majestic Star Casino in Gary, Indiana where it paid out $77,681 to Ken Baime after he beat a playing field of over 300 players. The tournament at the Golden Gates Casino will run for a period of 3 days and have a $200,000 guarantee for the main event.
The Golden Gates casino has played host to a number of events including the Heartland Poker Tour but this will be the first time that it hosts the MSPT. Bryan Mileski who is the MSPT owner and operator was happy to add a new stop to his tour. He said

Most poker tour events last for just two days but the tournament at the Golden Gate casino is scheduled for three days. This is because the Casino has only 17 poker tables and needs the extra day to accommodate the huge turnout of players that they expect. The casino is situated in an extremely scenic location and also has a new look as it went through a renovation in 2013. The poker rooms at the Golden Gate are now extremely comfortable and are equipped with flat screen TV’s, high speed wireless internet, new chairs and carpets.
The Golden Gates is well prepared to host the MSPT. Niehaus who is in charge of organizing the tournament was confident that his staff would be able to run a successful event. Niehaus said

This Friday, the Card Player Poker Tour will make its first ever trip to Black Hawk, Colorado to the Golden Gates Casino and Poker Parlour for a $600 buy-in event that runs from Jan. 19-21.
“Playing poker in the Golden Gates Blackhawk poker room is like playing in your best friend’s home game,” says Golden Gates poker room manager, Nathan “Cage” Yanchunis.
The Golden Gates Casino poker room under Yanchunis has turned Black Hawk into a premier poker destination by hosting poker series from the Mid-States Poker Tour, Heartland Poker Tour and now the CPPT. The Poker Parlour is also home to the Colorado Poker Championship, which just wrapped up in December.
CPPT players in this tournament will enjoy a healthy 30,000 starting stack and generous blind levels. There are two starting flights, Jan. 19 and Jan. 20, and the final table is Jan. 21.
Golden Gates’ 17-table room with expanded capability for tournaments affords their players a unique customer service experience. Yanchunis has implemented a series of daily and weekly promotions resulting in a loyal base which provides great action. The “high hand” promotions are attainable and thus keeps the frequent pay-offs in the room’s poker economy.

The poker room is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. – 4 a.m. and 24 hours a day Friday through Sunday.
